Podcast??

Hello hello,
Today I have a podcast for you! I'm not sure if this will be a regular thing, but I was in the mood for something different.
I discuss:
My curly scarf of doom?
UFOs
Caron Simply soft-yay or nay?

Here are some pictures of the scarf:

  1. Aww I loved your cheesy intro. That's way more tech-savvy than I could come up with, for sure. Lots of comments here...
    1) I like podcasts! Unfortunately my internet is super slow so it takes forever for them to load, but they're always worth it. Keep 'em coming, I say.
    2) Stockinette scarves....awww. I made that alien scarf from the first Stitch n Bitch years and years ago and it curled so much and I was so bummed and I couldn't even block it because it was acrylic and it was the biggest disappointment ever! So much work went into putting those secret aliens in there. :(
    3) I actually really like Simply Soft. Back in 2009 when I swore off acrylic (hah! like i had the budget to do that!) simply soft was the exception.
    4) I would knit $5 in Paris or a double knit harry potter scarf with it. Not hats though. I don't know why, I feel like simply soft should be used for something drapey.
    5) Finish the neckwarmer! I loved it and want to see it done!
    6) Is the yarn full o' sheep? I used that for a hat when the yarn first came out and found that it was awfully pilly.

That's it, i think. whoo long comment. :)

  2. :)
    1. yay!
    2. I know all about the stockinette curl, but sometimes I go into knitting blindness where I'm in denial of the realities of the project. haha
    3. It's not that i hate it, because i wouldn't work with it if i didnt, and i can actually see myself buying more in the future.
    4. i really want to make a harry potter scarf, but the colors i have aren't harry potter ish...so that means buying more...uh oh. also, i'm not sure how i feel about $5 dollars in paris...i want to make my first sweater, and i don't think that's the one. my next podcast will definitely be about my sweater saga.
    5. okay i will i will!
    6. Yes it is, i just double checked. That's also part of the problem-i like it in the skein, but knitting it up i wasn't sure. i bought a cream and a green, and i realized im not in love with the green and cream mittens sound ridiculously not practical. we'll see.

  3. Like the podcast idea!

I've got mixed feelings about Simply Soft. I like that it's legitimately soft, but unless the colors are fluorescent, the shine isn't always welcome! I love their variety of colors, especially the bright ones. It does get splitty sometimes, and it pills, which is sad, because I made my first STRIPED scarf with it, and matching wristwarmers, and I'm not liking the fuzz that it sometimes make.

Why not try to salvage your curly scarf of doom by adding a border, either by crocheting one or picking up and knitting garter or seed stitch or something to flatten it.
